Redesigning the e-commerce experience at Cdiscount
Scaling design efficiency with a Design System
In 2021, I implemented, evangelized internally, and maintained Cdiscount’s first Design System to streamline workflows and improve cross-team collaboration. Before this, there was no centralized UI framework, leading to inconsistencies and inefficiencies. Implementing this system transformed our process, ensuring design quality at scale. Balancing business needs & design excellence
Beyond design, a key part of my role was collaborating with commercial teams to ensure the UI adapted to ongoing business demands. I managed dynamic UI updates to accommodate commercial campaigns such as sales, Christmas, and back-to-school promotions. The homepage, in particular, had to be refreshed rapidly to highlight key offers while maintaining a consistent and engaging user experience. This required a balance between business priorities and design quality, ensuring that updates were both visually compelling and user-friendly.
Homepage redesign & personalization
In 2023, I led a major redesign of the Cdiscount homepage to enhance personalization and improve product discovery. A key focus was refining the UI to create a cleaner, more structured layout that reduced cognitive load while maintaining a strong visual hierarchy. I redesigned the product carousels and cards, adjusting elements like border radius angles and pricing hierarchy for better readability and consistency.
To make promotions and special offers more intuitive, I introduced clear labeling for discounts, member-exclusive deals, coupon-eligible products, and eco-friendly or Made in France items. Additionally, the main slider was redesigned to be more visually engaging while ensuring better adaptability for different campaigns. These improvements not only streamlined navigation but also provided users with clearer, more relevant product information, leading to a more effective and engaging shopping experience.
To enhance usability and flexibility, I implemented a Bento-style layout for dashboards and content sections, creating a more structured and modern interface. This approach allowed for better modularity, improving the way information was displayed and accessed.
Cdiscount’s largest redesign in 25 years
In 2024, Cdiscount underwent its most significant rebranding in two decades, a large-scale project redefining the platform’s visual identity. I was responsible for redesigning core UI elements to align with the updated brand guidelines while ensuring a seamless transition for users.
This rebranding was a collaborative effort, and we worked closely with Carré Noir, a Paris-based agency, to ensure consistency between the new brand direction and the digital experience. The challenge was not only to modernize the UI but also to maintain user familiarity and optimize navigation across key e-commerce flows.
This rebranding required an update of both desktop and mobile experiences, ensuring consistency across all user touchpoints. I reviewed and adapted key e-commerce flows, such as the product page for example, to align with the new brand identity while enhancing usability. This included refining layouts, adjusting typography and color schemes, and optimizing interactive elements to improve engagement.
By reworking these essential screens, we maintained a fluid shopping experience while introducing a fresh, modern look that connected with users.
Working at Cdiscount during this major rebranding was both a challenge and an opportunity to design at scale in a high-traffic, business-driven environment. Managing design priorities across multiple teams, building a first-ever design system, and contributing to a company-wide rebranding reinforced my expertise in:
